Partnership with Purpose
Riding is one stone at the top of the equestrian skill pyramid.
Without strengthening the base layers, you risk your safety and the long-term health of your horse.
Even small gaps in the foundation hold you back, creating performance limits and ongoing frustration.
Hideaway uses the full pyramid of holistic horsemanship so riders at every level feel good about their role in developing confident, healthy, and reliable horses.
We have a nerd-level obsession
with helping horses and horse people.

Kate Roosa
OWNER, MANAGER, COACH & TRAINER, Kate’s work is grounded in neuroscience and informed by her background in psychology and behavioral health. Integrating this with an understanding of how a rider’s body and movement impact the horse, she has developed a holistic approach that deepens traditional riding instruction by focusing on awareness and control of the rider’s mental and physical presence as the foundation for influencing the horse. Drawing from natural horsemanship and classical dressage principles, Kate guides students toward more effective, ethical partnerships with horses.

"Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically changed"
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Pick up the passion and discover the magic of becoming fully present with a horse that is becoming wholly sound.

A Holistic Horsemanship “Half-Halt”
The “half-halt” is a moment of physical and mental rebalancing in the horse.

You can use the same principles as a quick mental reset right now.
Take a moment to answer these five questions.
They can be applied to yourself, your horse or your child to understand the present, reflect on the past, or plan for the future.
